After more than 25 years in Truckee, this community is much more than where I live. It’s home.
It’s where I raised my family, built friendships, became involved in the community, and put down roots.
After a long career in the corporate world, I knew I wanted the next chapter of my professional life to look different.
I wanted to work closer to home, use the experience and skills I had accumulated over decades, and build a business
around something that can be surprisingly hard to find these days: Personal service.
That idea became Trokay Tax.
A Down-to-Earth Tax Practice
I wanted to create the kind of tax practice that feels at home in a small mountain town —
professional and knowledgeable, but also personal, approachable and built on trust. Not condescending.
My clients aren't numbers in a system. They're individuals, families, entrepreneurs and small business owners,
each with their own circumstances, questions and goals.
I am easy to reach and return phone calls, texts and emails.
I ask questions and take the time to understand the whole picture.
Sometimes that means finding a deduction or credit that may have been overlooked.
Sometimes it means researching an unusual tax situation.
And sometimes it simply means explaining something in plain English so you understand what we're doing — and why.
I believe good tax preparation is about more than putting numbers into the right boxes.
It's about asking good questions, paying attention to the details and helping you feel confident
that your return has been prepared thoughtfully and carefully.
And while taxes are serious business, working with your tax professional doesn't have to be intimidating.

Experience You Can Rely On
Before founding Trokay Tax, I spent more than 35 years working in legal, financial, business and risk-management environments,
including more than two decades with Wells Fargo in financial crimes risk management.
Much of my career involved regulatory research, policy writing and interpreting complex federal and state requirements —
experience that translates remarkably well to the world of taxes.
I earned my BBA in Economics from Loyola University Chicago, and my background also includes work at a
San Francisco law firm, Intuit's legal department, a QuickBooks Bookkeeping ProAdvisor certification,
and something I think is particularly valuable when working with small-business clients: I've been a small-business owner myself.
I've started and operated several businesses over the years, so I understand that business decisions and tax decisions don't happen in separate worlds.
They are often closely connected.
I bring all of those experiences together at Trokay Tax.
